As part of the ErasmusPlus mobility project, eight students from the vocational school in Kuldīga, Latvia, had the unique opportunity to gain work experience in Schwerin for four weeks. Martins, Linda, Laura, Kārina, Kevins, Ieva Marija, Ieva Linda and Anda undertook exciting internships in various companies in the region, including the Lukas restaurant, the Orangerie, the Mühlenbäckerei, Locema GmbH, Trilk Reifenservice and André Brun’s carpentry shop.
ErasmusPlus is a European Union funding program that supports education, youth and sport in Europe. It offers pupils, students and professionals the opportunity to study, teach or gain practical experience abroad and thus develop their skills. ErasmusPlus mobility projects are particularly aimed at expanding knowledge and skills beyond national borders.
The students from Kuldīga not only gained valuable insights into German working life through their internships, but also used the opportunity to explore the city of Schwerin and other northern German cities. These cultural trips enabled them to get to know German culture and society better, which was an important addition to their practical training.
The experiences that Martins, Linda, Laura, Kārina, Kevins, Ieva Marija, Ieva Linda and Anda gained in Schwerin are an enrichment for both their professional and private future. They return to their homeland not only with improved professional skills, but also with broader cultural horizons and new friendships.
We wish the students continued success and all the best in their future lives. ErasmusPlus has offered them the opportunity to strengthen their skills in an international context and to build a bridge between Latvia and Germany. These mobility experiences are invaluable and will certainly have a positive impact on their further educational and career paths.
