In this article, you will learn how the ErasmusPlus program brought two Latvian students to Germany and gave them a unique learning experience. ErasmusPlus promotes cross-border exchanges between students and young professionals through mobility projects that enable participants to study and work in a foreign country.
Kristīne and Santa from Latvia took on this challenge and spent two weeks in Schwerin. The two prospective kitchen assistants enjoyed the opportunity to gain practical experience in the “Augustenstift” run by “Netzwerk für Menschen”. With the support of their teacher Ruta and under the hospitable guidance of Ms. Milkowski, they immersed themselves in new work processes and team structures.
In addition to their work, the two girls also had the chance to practice independence by living in a youth hostel and managing everyday life on their own. The time in Schwerin also offered cultural highlights, such as a visit to Schwerin Castle and the lively Christmas market.
This stay abroad was not only professionally enriching, but also offered insights into cultural diversity and personal responsibility. We hope that Kristīne and Santa will bring these valuable experiences into their future and wish them and their teacher Ruta all the best.
