Many thanks to Igor Peters from the Non-Traditional Sports Association (NTS) for inviting me to the Gorodki tournament! It was a great experience for our 6 Italian teenagers. They visit Schwerin as part of the “M.E.T.A.” Erasmus+ project from the autonomous province of Trentino-Alto Adige to do an internship at various companies in Schwerin.
A total of 8 teams took part in the tournament, including the Italians, who had never played Gorodki before. Nevertheless, they managed to take an honorable (shared) 4th place. It was great to see the different cultures coming together and playing with each other. Representatives from the German Red Cross (DRK), the party “Die Linke”, the “IB Westmecklenburg”, the “Patchwork Center Schwerin” with two teams, as well as the “Intercultural Center Schwerin” and a Schwerin family also took part in the tournament.
The tournament ended with a joint barbecue, where all participants came together again and exchanged ideas. It was a very interesting and nice meeting that will certainly be remembered.
We would like to thank Igor and all other organizers again for the invitation and the great organization. It was a great opportunity for the Italian youth to make new friends and hone their gorodki game skills. We hope that there will be more such events in the future, encouraging collaboration and cultural exchange.
