The exchange of knowledge and cultures is a central part of the ErasmusPlus programme, which brings teachers, students and other educational stakeholders from different countries together to learn and grow from each other. A striking example of this are the mobility projects that enable educators to gain international experience and expand their professional skills. One such project recently brought the two teachers Anita and Dace from Latvia to the beautiful city of Schwerin.
Anita, an enthusiastic cook, and Dace, a passionate pastry chef, both teach at the vocational school in Kuldīga, Latvia. As part of a one-week job shadowing programme from ErasmusPlus, they had the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the working world of their German colleagues. Their professional journey took them to the renowned restaurant Lukas and the traditional Mühlenbäckerei in Schwerin.
During their stay, they were able to experience first-hand the working methods and techniques used in German catering establishments. This experience enabled them to draw instructive comparisons with the procedures in Latvian educational institutions and to take home valuable new ideas for their own teaching.
But in addition to professional development, the ErasmusPlus programme also offered space for cultural experiences. Anita and Dace had the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural treasures of Schwerin, which made their trip a holistic experience.
ErasmusPlus’ commitment to promoting education and cooperation at an international level offers teachers like Anita and Dace the chance to develop personally and professionally. Their visit to Schwerin was not only an exchange of specialist knowledge, but also a valuable contribution to cultural understanding between Latvia and Germany. We thank Anita and Dace for their visit and hope that they took home many new impressions and inspirations.
