Andris from Cīrava, Latvia, is a young man with special needs aged 20. When he was given the opportunity to travel to Germany as part of an ErasmusPlus mobility project, he was initially a little unsure. But his doubts quickly turned into excitement because he knew that this would be a unique opportunity for him.
Andris went to the beautiful city of Schwerin for two weeks to complete an internship in the kitchen at the “Augustenstift” run by “netzwerk für menschen”. And this experience would have a lasting impact on his life.
Through ErasmusPlus, Andris was not only able to improve his skills in his professional field, but he also gained insights into the working culture in Germany. He learned the importance of punctuality and efficiency, and how to interact and work together as part of a team. This new perspective has shaped Andris not only in his career, but also in his future life.
But Andris was able to benefit from his experience in Germany not only professionally. It was also a culturally enriching time for him. He had the opportunity to make new friends and exchange ideas with people from different countries. Andris immersed himself in German culture and learned a lot about traditions, customs and the way of life of the people here.
For Andris, this internship was more than just a professional experience. It was a chance to step out of your comfort zone and expand your personal and professional horizons. Not only has he acquired skills, but he has also developed self-confidence and a sense of independence.
The ErasmusPlus program enables young people like Andris to realize their dreams and gain valuable experience. It offers the opportunity to live, learn and work in another country in order to develop social and intercultural skills. All while making new friends, creating memories and having unforgettable experiences.
We wish Andris all the best for his private and professional future and are sure that he will carry this experience with him for the rest of his life. And we hope that Andris’ story encourages other young people to embark on this exciting adventure too. Because ErasmusPlus is more than just a stay abroad – it is an opportunity to discover the world, overcome borders and make your dreams come true.
